PvE Gameplay systems - Discussion

  • Species Abilities are going to make a few types of creatures very, very hated. This is a good thing :D Also, random boss abilities + boss of said hated species = rage and tears. I'm looking forward to this.

    NPC infestations are going to be quite annoying for the first few high-level players. It might take several days just to clear out the high level zones to the point where you can walk from one end to the other without dying. Sounds like fun :P Also, this *has* to be scaled with the number of active players or either most zones will be overrun/picked clean of encampments 24/7.

    City Events are basically randomly occurring mini-games, sounds good. I wonder if there's any special rewards for doing a lot of them, like getting a bank guard uniform if you protect the bank X number of times. More cosmetics is (almost) always good.

    If threat levels use the full greek alphabet you can have 240 unique threat levels. That's not going to be running out anytime soon, but just make sure that Omega - X is the *highest* rating. Don't go adding in Omega - X threats at launch and then decide you need a stronger boss (unless dramatic storytelling demands an Omega - X++ boss.) Don't be afraid to start out with low-level Omega endgame bosses or even sub-Omega bosses to give you room to make ever stronger NPCs later on.

    Im glad you like some of these systems, they will all of course have to be worked over to ensure that they are fun and challenging while also being balanced.

    With city events, there are many tie ins that can be added to it to make it worth doing, not just in terms of exp etc.

    In regards to threat levels, the greek system gives us plenty of room for expansion.
